Clinical Evaluation of Cefazolin in Surgical Infections

Abstract
|
|
|
Clinical response to Cefazolin, a new semi-synthetic Cephalosporin antibiotic, was studied and the following results were obtained.
1. Cefazolin was administered to 32 patients with surgical infection and -therapeutic effect was
excellent in 4 patients, good in 42 patients and poor in 4 patients with the effectiveness rate being as good as 87.5%.
2. Cefazolin, however, seemed to be not effective in 4 patients with infection caused by pseudomonas.
3. No noticeable side-effects were encountered throughout the course of treatment except pain on injection site in a few patients.
